East Kerry O'Donoghue Cup Quarter Final
Dr Cokes 1-14 Legion 0-5
IT was a predominantly young Legion team that faced neighbours Dr Crokes on Saturday in the quarter final of the Aquila Club O'Donoghue Cup. But it was a very match-fit Crokes outfit that held all the aces. Except for a fifteen minute spell in the first half when they went off the boil, the Crokes were relentless in pursuit of scores. They won the toss and earned the assistance of a very strong breeze. But their scoring was better in the second half against the wind. Legion was at home in front of a large attendance and will be very disappointed that they could only manage five points for the hour. Granted they were not as match-fit as Dr Crokes who are motoring well with weekly games. And when Legions talisman forward James O'Donoghue failed to appear for the second half, the attendance had already made up its mind that there would be no shock at Dereen.

Dr. Crokes 2-15 Legion 1-03

Everybody in the East Kerry Area , including our own supporters, anticipated a very close game against our neighbours. This however did not materialise. We came quickly out of the blocks and built up a twelve point lead by the interval. The fact that we had played against the strong breeze in the first thirty minutes made this an almost unassailable lead. We were fifteen points ahead at the three quarter stage and could afford the luxury of using our bench in the last fifteen minutes. This was probably our best display of the season and on the day would probably have beaten any opposition.
